Looked into what is a blog and setup a Blog account with blogspot.com (Blog title: ittoolsnewmedia) and an account with gmail.

A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries.

A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. They offer the ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.

Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, featuring very short posts.

YouTube

Looked into what YouTube is and checked out some videos on YouTube.

YouTube is used in the world of video podcasting. Lets you exhibit your home movies that you want the world to see. Allows you to make a movie using a digital camera, web cam, or cell phone. You can upload a YouTube movie directly from a phone if you set up a Mobile Profile in YouTube, edit your movie, resize the video so it looks best in. You can create a title, description, tags, category, and set language.

You can also use the Quick Capture feature to upload to YouTube straight from a webcam. Once you’ve got a video ready, upload it to other sites, like Google or post it on blogs, message boards, social networking sites or email it.

Wiki

Looked into what a wiki is and setup a wiki account on wikispaces.

A wiki is a website that uses wiki software, allowing the easy creation and editing of any number of interlinked Web pages, using a simplified markup language or a WYSIWYG text editor, within the browser. Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites, to power community websites, and for note taking. Wikis are used in business to provide intranet and knowledge management systems.

Photo Management and Sharing apps



Photo Management and Sharing apps

Looked into different Photo Management and sharing apps to see what they do and have to offer. I set up a flikr account and created a set of photos and a slide show based on the set created then embed it into my blog. Two of the Photo Management and Sharing apps I looked into were Flickr, Fotki,

Photo Management and Sharing apps allow you to show pictures and videos weather for blogs, Web or for a private and secure way to share photos and videos with your family and friends across the country. They offer many ways of getting your photo and videos in and out of the system and organizing your photos and is free.

Photo Management and sharing apps is for people who share work online and offer a printing service. Unlimited photo hosting and blog, photo contests and finding new friends by interest or host albums of photo and video. Photo sharing the publishing or transfer of user’s digital photos online enabling other users to share with others online both websites and applications that can upload and display images, using photo galleries.

They can be managed by users and photo blogs with multiple views (thumbnails and slideshow). You can tag and classify photo albums as well as adding annotations. Applications for peer to peer networks allow you to email pics.

new and old media



What is old and New Media?

We looked into different types of media and also looked into what old media and new media are.

Examples of old media we looked into were Radio, Printing, TV, Morse code and Telegraph.

Examples of new media we looked into were E Book, I Pod, VOIP, Cellular communications, Face Book/ My Space, Blueray, Twitter, Skype, Bloggs, Forums, Video and photo sharing, You tube, Internet and the Web.
